4 tips for sticking to a workout routine. You have elected to take action. You have signed up at a local Health Club or bought equipment to work out at home. You have already witnessed the first results of your training program. Now what? How can you make sure that you do not deviate from your program and to keep up your progress? Follow these tips:
Tip 1: Set realistic goals
To lose 15 kilos in a month is not realistic. Uncertain, vague and difficult goals are practically impossible to accomplish and can be discouraging to the point that you give up. Concentrate on the reason you started exercising in the first place. Set one particular goal and a reasonable time frame in which to accomplish the results you want.
Tip 2: Discuss your progress with your trainer or keep notes for yourself
This tip ties into Tip 1. Evaluating yourself at regular intervals you will be able to judge whether your expectations are based on actual possibility. Also, you will be able to see your progress as your body changes even before a physical change is apparent. Even a small increase in weights or in repetitions is progress and it means that the program you have chosen works! Stick with it!
Tip 3: Schedule a set workout time
Whether you choose mornings before work or afternoons after you return home, find a time when you have no other obligations so you can enjoy a workout free from distractions.
Tip 4: Inform your family and friends of your endeavor
The benefits of creating a support group are double fold. First of all their encouragement will motivate you to stick to your program and second, they will assist and help out with any problems you might encounter down the road.
Following these tips and forming some strict habits, you will manage to avoid deviating from the program you have chosen and will therefore continue to record significant progress in strength and wellbeing.
