Stay fit and healthy at the beach

Fun things you need to do at the beach!

– Build a sand castle.

– Be a mermaid.

– Drink cocktails.

Ok wait no, this is a fitness blog! So yes, you can do all of the above and they are great for your mental health since you need to chill and relax from your daily routine, but we’re gonna add a couple more fun ideas you can do at the beach that will be great for your body and your mind! (And on a budget too!)

Play some group sports! Whether it’s a company of 2 or more you can organize a group activity such as beach volley, or a game of frisbee to work up a sweat before taking a dip!

Gone to the beach solo? No problem! Good ol traditionall swimming is always an option! You can also take a barefoot jog in the sand which is great for your feet and will give you an extra challenge compared to the treadmill at your gym!

Not into running? Get in the water up to your knees or waist and walk along the beach line! The resistance of the water will give you an extra boost compared to just plain walking and it’s easy on the joints. Added benefits? The water cools you down while you get a tan!

If you are really up for a challenge and don’t want to miss your daily Wod, you can easily do a modified version of it or a Hiit body weight workout at the beach! For some great ideas check this out and substitute any cardio machines with running, mountain climbers or jumping jacks!

All you need is your towel and you’re good to go!

You can also do some water sports! With an extra cost rent a sup or take a windsurfing lesson! Not your thing? Wakeboarding, surfing or skiing are also super fun options! Don’t forget to get some cool pics for your social media feed! ?

Tired from all that action? Read a book or play a game of sudoku to exercise your brain as well, while soaking in some vitamin – D!

Now after all those activities I’m sure you’re hungry!

And most often the challenge is to make healthy eating choices while away from home.

Tips

Bring some healthy options from home.

Fresh fruit pieces and an unsalted nut assortment are always great snacking  options!

Choose water to hydrate over other beverages. Fruit juices and cocktails contain lots of sugar so, I’m not gonna be annoying and tell you to skip them altogether (god knows I don’t) but prefer hydrating with water and ordering one drink to enjoy sipping on!

Up for something more substantial to fill your belly? Opt for a salad and ask for the dressing on the side. Salads are a great option since they’re full of fiber and super filling (and most often make supercool instagram pics too!). Take care of those extra calories asking for the dressing on the side and adding just enough to give you a bit of extra taste!

Take care not to exercise right after your meal and don’t forget to be properly protected from the sun!
